Work progresses at the Gap

RECONSTRUCTION work at Cunningham's Gap reached new heights today, with the highway's new alignment through Clayton's Gully opening to traffic.

Transport and Main Roads regional director Paul Noonan said the recent dry weather meant construction crews made quicker than expected progress with these works.

"This is a great result for people who've been very patient while these works have been done," Mr Noonan said.

"Traffic has moved onto the new highway alignment. We have signage in place to guide traffic and speed limits will be reduced."
