Working on the Gap

THE Department of Transport and Main Roads has invited Southern Downs mayor Ron Bellingham and Scenic Rim mayor John Brent for a debriefing on repair works at Cunningham's Gap.

Daily News reporter Emma Channon has been invited to attend and is currently with Southern Downs Regional Council engineering director Peter See, the two mayors and project manager Sanjay Ram.

Work has been ongoing at the Gap since the wet weather in summer caused serious landslides in a number of areas on the stretch of road.

Check out tomorrow's Daily News for an update on the work being done there and Emma speaks exclusively to a "stop and go" worker to find out what life is like working on the Gap.
