Working on Warwick's happiness

STARTING in March, a new Warwick workshop will assist the community to understand how to become happy.

Program co-ordinator Bette Bonney will facilitate the workshops entitled Happiness, it's up to you and said the ideas behind the program were based on the book of the same name by renowned social worker Sabine Beecher.

The current workshop, to be hosted at Red Rose Healing Centre in Wood St from next week, will be presented in a group format.

"One of the main points is to teach people the difference between self-esteem, which depends on what other people think of you, and self-acceptance, what we think of ourselves,” Mrs Bonney said.

"It's all about learning who you really are as a person and accepting yourself, despite labels that you or others place on you, whether they be positive or negative.

"Learn to master negative feelings and develop realistic expectations, learning to reframe how you see yourself.”

The workshops start on Monday, February 12 from 9am to 11.30am.
