Roadworks around region update

ROADWORKS at the corner of Albion and Fitzroy Sts caused disruptions to traffic flow yesterday, as Southern Downs Regional Council did surface repairs.

A council spokesperson said the roadwork was minor and delays in coming days were unlikely.

The work is among a number of similar projects under way.

The council's director of engineering services Peter See said there were more upcoming works in the region, as well as works being carried out in Stanthorpe.

"In the next fortnight council will conduct road re-sheeting in the northern part of the SDRC area at Johnstone Rd, Rockbrae Rd, Gross Rd and Reids Rd," Mr See said.

"Council crews have nearly completed gravel re-sheeting work at Derreen Rd (Murrays Bridge).

"Works construction crews are also working at the Stanthorpe Industrial Estate completing an extension of roadworks and improving stormwater drainage.

"Once these works are finished re-seals will start at Eukey Rd, Stanthorpe, as well as re-seal repairs at Stanthorpe district roads - Newlands Rd, Glen Aplin Dr, Mt Stirling Rd and Forrest St."

Motorists are also urged to take care on the Cunningham Hwy, west of Warwick, with Main Roads repairing a damaged guardrail.

A Main Roads spokesperson said no delays were expected.
