Workshop critical to learn about tendering process
THE Southern Downs Regional Council will reimburse local business representatives who attend tomorrow's government tendering process workshop.
The council is providing an extra incentive to attend the workshop.
SDRC planning and development manager Cecil Barnard said the Queensland Government Tendering for Government Business workshop, to be held tomorrow at the Queensland Government Building in Warwick, is an absolute must for local business.
"We feel it is so important for businesses within the SDRC area to be involved that they can come to the Warwick or Stanthorpe council offices and have the $50 fee reimbursed," he said.
"Council, through its Economic Development Unit, is working with the State Government to run a Tendering for Government Business Workshop.
"The intent of this workshop is to assist local industry in understanding the government procurement process.
"We can also help you in developing winning tenders to maximise the chances of gaining new contracts with both local and state government, on major projects or as a supplier to larger contractors."
Participants will learn the art of developing and submitting tenders including:
- The principles of government procurement policies and processes.
- How to interpret and effectively respond to offer and tender documents.
- Where to look for current and upcoming tendering opportunities.
- How to conduct market research to maximise chances of success.
"The workshop will also include up-to-date information from the Southern Downs Regional Council on procurement arrangements and purchasing opportunities, followed by question and answer time," Mr Barnard said.
