Wright's one-pointer a decider for Brooks team in final
A ONE-point win by Bec Wright in the fifth game was crucial as the Brooks team beat Saucony in the Warwick Rose Squash Club grand final at the weekend.
Brooks won 4-3 on rubbers after losing the semi-final 5-2 to the same team.
Wright beat Jack Norman on line 6 after winning 15-14 in the fifth game. Norman won in the semi.
After losing to Sebastian Johnson in the semi, Brodie Rafton was the toast of the Brooks team after a 3-0 victory on line 5 in the grand final.
Wayne Hockings won 3-2 against David Coates on line 3 while Jason Anderson beat Phil Johnson on line 2 to put Brooks 4-2 up before the final rubber.
Queensland junior representative Caleb Johnson, of Saucony, won 15-11 in the fifth against club president Danny Lyons on line 1
Other winners for Saucony on the night were Lloyd George Worth, who won line 7 against Cooper Rafton and Nick Hobbs, who beat Kieran Babington on line 4.
Lyons said the grand final on Friday night at the St Mary's Squash Centre attracted one of the biggest crowds in recent years.
"The games were very close with extremely tight competition," Lyons said.
