Wynnum on top in the footy at Warwick Cowboys

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Wynnum team is favoured to win the zone 5, under-43kg rugby league carnival in Warwick.

After six games, Wynnum was the only unbeaten team.

They played the then equal second-placed Central Downs yesterday morning and won 28-0.

Best player awards went to Wynnum halfback Blake Kruska and Central Downs fullback Atticus Sullivan.

Sullivan has scored one try during the carnival.

Kruska hadn't scored a try in his first five games but has set up plenty.

He is in his first zone 5 carnival and hopes to play again next year if his weight allows.

"I play division 1 under-13 club rugby league,” he said.

He didn't miss the chance to watch the Queensland win in State of Origin 3.

He said New South Wales was the better side in the series and Blues fullback James Tedesco was his choice for player of the match.

In the afternoon, Wynnum beat a Cunnamulla team, which included seven players from Warwick, 40-0.

Warwick and Southern Downs started day four with a 14-all draw with Western Downs. Best player awards went to props William Riley (W/SD) and Benjamin Waters (Western Downs).

In their afternoon game, Warwick and Southern Downs beat South Burnett 10-4. Sam Wainwright (W/SD) and Casey Jones (South Burnett) won the best player awards.
