Wyverns in two finals tonight in Warwick hockey

HOCKEY: Wyverns go into tonight's Mid Season Cup finals in Warwick hockey with a win and a loss in this week's fixtures.

In the ladies' competition, Wyverns went down 6-0 to Corinthians and will need to regroup quickly for the 7.30pm Mid Season Cup final against Corinthians.

Lisa Nowlan is the key striker for Wyverns but is out with a calf injury.

Corinthians will rely heavily on Yasmin McWhinney, who scored two goals in the fixture game against Wyverns on Wednesday.

In the men's final, Wyverns will back up after a 9-3 victory against Corinthians on Thursday night.

They play a Saints team that won 12-0 this week against Harlequins.

Many of the players in the grand final were part of the two Warwick teams in the over-35 years men's carnival a fortnight ago.

The mixed competition Mid Season Cup final was played on Tuesday, with Tiarna King scoring three goals in a 4-3 Blue win against Green.

Warwick hockey action starts with junior fixtures this morning and then the Mid Season Cup finals tonight.

The men's game is at 6pm today and the ladies will play at 7.30pm. Spectators are welcome to watch from the clubhouse balcony and stands.
