Wyverns taste first victory

THE warm weather made for another enjoyable weekend in the Warwick Hockey Association A-grade competition on Friday and Saturday nights.

In men’s hockey, Wyverns won their first match of the season against Harlequins (7-3). Eric Kraak made some great runs for the Harlequins team. Corinthians men continued with their winning streak, beating Saints this week (8-0). Although the Saints played well with some brilliant tackles and good positioning by Greg McDonald and Jason Battese, the Corinthians, led by Troy March and Mat Hagenbach, were too strong.

In the women’s comp, Saints beat Harlequins (8-0).

The Under 15s mixed team had a big win over Corinthians women (9-0). Jacob Stevens, Ryan Collins and AJ Duncan all scored two goals each for the mixed team.

There will be no hockey for the following two weeks due to Easter and the Warwick Show Holiday weekend.
