Xtreme partnership with ARB comes to an end after 16 years
MOTORSPORT: Xtreme 4x4 Sport organiser David Metcalf will be sad to see the end of an era when drivers take to the track in the Xtreme Winch Challenge, held at The Springs 4x4 Camping and Adventure Park this weekend.
The third round of the winch challenge will be the final event sponsored by ARB after a 16-year partnership.
David Metcalf started the XWC in February 2000 at Landcruiser Mountain Park and has since held 50 events between Queensland and NSW.
"ARB has been by our side for 48 of the 50 events," Metcalf said.
"I have been assisted by a great bunch of officials, clubs, minor sponsors and landowners to make this all possible.
"I would like to thank ARB for their ongoing support over the years."
Metcalf said this weekend would be the end of an era and expected teams who had competed over the years to come back to the Springs Park site and be part of "the end game".
"The competitors over the years have been world class and a great bunch of ladies and gentlemen," he said.
Warwick driver Emily Taylor will be one of the competitors.
The 25-year-old has one advantage over other drivers: her parents own the Springs 4x4 Camping and Adventure Park.
Races will be held on Friday and Saturday night and Sunday morning. It will cost $25 per car to watch all the action live.
Catering will be available at the site with spectators ferried out to the tracks by 4WD.
