Yangan strolls down Memory Lane
WERE your school days spent at Yangan State School?
The school bell will ring out once more for past students, with a reunion planned for Saturday September 3.
Organisers Bruce Carey and Desleigh Clarson are calling for students who attended the school during the 1950s.
“If you are over 60 and were a student at Yangan State School, we would love to hear from you,” Mrs Clarson said.
“If you are under 60, you are still more than welcome to attend, but we are trying to get as many people from the 1950s as possible.”
The plan for the reunion day is to start with morning tea in the school grounds.
“We are asking everyone to bring a plate to share,” Mrs Clarson said.
“Tea and coffee will be supplied and for lunch a sausage sizzle will be supplied, but feel free to bring a picnic lunch to share.”
After lunch Memory Lane will officially open with a slide show of photos from the ‘50s and ’60s.
“If you have an images, especially class group photos, please email them through to either myself at clarson@skymesh.com.au or Bruce Carey on bcarey@tpg.com.au,” Mrs Clarson said.
“We would also love any help with school memorabilia, uniforms or stores.”
To finish off the day everybody is welcome to have a meal at the Yangan Hotel.
“But we need to know numbers as soon as possible,” Mrs Clarson said.
“If we get enough RSVPs we can organise a special dinner with a set menu.”
For those making a weekend of it, you are also welcome to go for a drive around the district.
