THE supply of stock reduced by 10% and overall quality was generally good at the Warwick Cattle Sale yesterday.
The usual panel of buyers was present and operating.
Restockers were very active on light weight young cattle and this was most noticeable on steer calves.
Prices of medium and heavy weight yearling to feed regained some of the previous week's losses to average 5c to 7c/kg better.
However export slaughter classes of heavy grown steers, bullocks and cows went against this trend, with bullocks 2c to 4c cheaper while cows fell in price by 5c to 9c/kg, with the poorer quality lines the least affected.
Steer calves made to 419.2c, with most of the calves in the 350c/kg range.
Light yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 346c and made to 360.2c/kg.
Medium weights to feed averaged 326c and made to 335.2c/kg.
Heavy weights to feed mostly sold around 317c, with some to 326.2c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers sold to a dearer trend, with most from 311c to 316c/kg.
Medium weights to feed averaged 310c and local trade lines made 306c, with sales to 315.2c/kg.
Bullocks mostly sold around 283c, with sales to 289.2c and full mouth bullocks were not penalised to average 277c, with some to 283.2c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 209c and made to 217.2c/kg.
Good heavy cows made to an isolated 250c, with most around 238c/kg.
Heavy bulls made to 270.2c/kg.
