Young horse lover joins quest for Junior Cowgirl

AT ONLY 12 years old Maddison Jackson has been riding for only three years, but she loves it and spends every weekend on her horse.

"It's fun to ride," she said.

The Junior Cowgirl entrant rides on her grandfather's 50-acre Warwick property, where she lives with her family.

She said she was inspired to enter the competition through her good friends, although she was "a bit nervous".

"I want to do more things with it (horse riding)", she said.

"I want to represent Warwick Rodeo.

"I think it's great, I've only ever been to other small ones."

Maddison is sponsored by Showtime Saddlery, and has raised funds selling chocolates and number boards thanks to Wickham Freight Lines Sydney depot.

She has country connections, with her mother growing up around horses and her older brother into steer riding.

Besides horse riding, she also enjoys netball.

She said she has 'no idea' of what she wants to do when she grows up, but knows it will be something to do with horses.
