Young kids ready for big step

NAP time will soon be traded for maths class for the Goodstart pre-school class, who are now preparing for "big school" next year.

The tots partied with their classmates after "graduating" yesterday and the budding students are now ready for the next chapter of their lives.

Five-year-old Tyson Carpenter said although the thought of Prep was scary, he was looking forward to trying new things at school.

"I am looking forward to hammering blocks into wood," he said.

Next year Tyson's friends will head off to different schools and he said he would miss racing his playmates on the school bikes.

"We have races on the bikes but no one ever loses," he said.

Group leader Donna Murphy tearfully farewelled her students yesterday, some of who she had nurtured since they were babies.

"It's all a bit sad but they're friendly, loving kids and it has been lovely to be a part of their families," Mrs Murphy said.
