Young Molly dances her way into the spotlight
TALENTED Allora dancer Molly Harm is leaving her mark on stages around the Darling Downs and south- east Queensland this season.
Molly joined the Performance Plus Dance Centre, in Ipswich, this year after dancing for eight years in Warwick.
The young dancer travels two days a week to participate in her art, having changed dance schools to further pursue her interests in musical theatre and acrobatics.
Having had her first team eisteddfod in Ipswich last month, performing in 10 group routines, Molly's group came home with an impressive nine placings.
It's been quite a year for the 11-year-old Allora State School student.
Taking part in the Get the Beat Dance Competition at Sunshine Coast in April, Molly competed in the 11 years jazz section and gained a top five finish alongside dancers from Sydney, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
This resulted in her gaining entry to the Australian Get the Beat finals on the Gold Coast in September.
Molly also debuted her new lyrical dance at Get the Beat and will be able to nominate this as her second dance for the finals.
As well, Molly performed at the City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod in four events with four placings, including first place in the 12 years and under tap duo (with partner Jada Wright of Warwick), a section the pair also won last year.
Molly also came second in the 11 years jazz and highly commended in her tap and lyrical dances.
At the Granite Belt Performing Arts Challenge in Stanthorpe recently, Molly won the intermediate jazz scholarship. The scholarship prize included a bursary towards dance education and an entry to the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge, along with master class opportunities in Brisbane.
It's a busy time ahead for Allora's young dance sensation, with upcoming commitments at the Stanthorpe, Ipswich, Brisbane, Noosa, Gold Coast, Tenterfield and Lockyer District eisteddfods.
