Young scouts mark 25 years

GLENNIE Heights joey scouts were among the many joey scouts from throughout the Darling Downs region who converged in Toowoomba for a celebration 25 years in the making.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the youngest section of scouting - joey scouts. The 2nd Toowoomba Scout Group hosted the event which saw joeys participating in the annual Joey Scout Olympics, as well as cooking, craft and outdoor activities.

Leader John Pugh, from 2nd Toowoomba Joey Scouts, said the day was designed for fun.

"We had joeys come in from as far west as Chinchilla and far south as Warwick," Mr Pugh said.

"The joeys get to see there is more to scouting than their piece of the world."

The highlight of the afternoon was the 25th anniversary cake.

Joey scouts is for boys and girls from 6-7 years of age. For details on how to find your local joey scout group, please visit www. darlingdownsscouts.org.au.
