Youth 'abuse, threaten' police on Warwick street

A DISTURBANCE between a group of youths allegedly escalated into a physical fight when police arrived on the scene at Grafton St.

Warwick police officer-in-charge Jamie Deacon said police received a call about the disturbance about 4pm yesterday and attended the scene to speak to a group of people.

"Some of the juveniles became abusive and threatening and a physical struggle ensued," Snr Sgt Deacon said.

Two teens were charged as a result of the fight.

Snr Sgt Deacon said a 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy, both from Warwick, had been charged with offences relating to public nuisance and assaulting or obstructing police.

Both teens are scheduled to appear at Warwick Magistrates Court on March 13.

Snr Sgt Deacon said the police officers did not sustain any injuries.
