Editorial: Admiration for Angus's courage
Editorial: YOU'VE got to admire the courage of the boy, his resilience and the indefatigable nature of his human spirit.
That also includes his parents, friends and the very clever American surgeon who all contributed to helping him claim his life back.
And let's not forget the man down at the pub who kicked off fundraising to help make surgery a reality for his little mate.
Yes, we're talking about Maryvale boy Angus Bowles.
Angus took his rare Pallister-Hall Syndrome head-on and it looks like he has it almost beaten.
His parents watch with amazement each day as Angus shows them he is not the struggling little battler he was before the surgery.
He had been hit by seizures every few minutes and could not achieve many of the very simplist of tasks children his age took for granted.
He suffered cardiac arrests, kidney failure and seizures so constant that it semed unimaginable that he ever would lead a normal life.
His amazed and proud dad Phil summed up the boy's dramatic improvement after the surgery: "He is a different child. It's surreal. I just can't explain it."
There could be more surgery down the track to totally remove the remaining lesser seizures.
But for now, Angus, the bragging rights are yours. Well done.
