Loved Husband of Natalie for 41 yesrs, and 44 years as life partner.

George achieved history-making changes to the motel business. His Commodore chain of Motels throughout Australia, and the Chateau Commodore Hotels in most major cities in Australia, and including New Zealand. His crowning glory was the Old Melbourne Hotel in Melbourne and the Commodore Dynasty in Busan, South Korea.

He loved his horse-racing and achieved a high in winning the Caulfield Cup with How Now 1976, with work partners as well as being a 3rd owner of Just A Dash which won the Melbourne Cup in 1981, as well as Adelaide Cup partnered with Lloyd Williams and Tom Pettiona. He designed many restaurants - Charlie Brown, Megs, Ghost Gum and Emu, along with Mahogany Park and the Bear House, Cranbourne, to name a few. He also developed many nightclubs, one still in existence - ’INFLATION’ - situated in Kings Street.

George believed in resurrecting beautiful old buildings, saving them from demolition. He also financially supported and helped bring Polly Woodside to life in its early days of rescue.

He wrote his own personal story titled ’Someday I’ll have Money’.

George’s visons were ahead of time, and during his life made wonderful friends, as well as enemies. His life ended peacefully with his best punting pal, Tracey, and myself beside him.

Vale George
