The Cancer Council is reminding dads to protect their skin from UV radiation after a study found fathers are prone to neglect their own skin care in favour of their children. Chair of National Skin Cancer Committee at the Cancer Council Heather Walker said the Cancer Council surveyed over 2,000 people and 400 of those were parents. She said the propensity for fathers to prioritise their children over themselves is leaving them at-risk of developing cancer. “While 81 per cent of dads reported that their kids are protected from UV radiation, unfortunately less than half of dads are protecting themselves, and that’s really important because we know that men are twice as likely to die from melanoma than women,” Ms Walker told Sky News.
